Ordinary Time

For a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.

Activity of the Week

Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • As a family, find a chalice and some wafers to represent the host. Practice the ritual and script for Holy Communion. Discuss the history of Eucharist and transubstantiation.  Also discuss the tabernacle and the sacredness of Eucharist. Answer questions as they arise.
  • Use some Legos® to build a human shape. Talk about how each piece of Lego® might represent another person in the parish that is part of the Body of Christ. The Church with her members share talent, time and treasure to maintain the Body of Christ. How does that work? Discuss how various talents that parish members share can complete a whole, effective representation of Christ on earth.
  • Discuss as a family what it must have been like to have manna fall, and quail become available where there was no food to be found, evidence of God’s provision. Consider how God has helped your family and whether it was remembered or forgotten. Speculate as to why the Israelites forgot so soon and began to doubt God’s help.
