Ordinary Time

For a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.

Activity of the Week

Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • To celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of the Lord, share with your child remembrances of his or her First Communion day. If your child has not yet received the Sacrament, talk about what that day will mean for him or her.
  • Hum a few bars of your favorite hymn about Jesus’ Body and Blood and have the members of your family try to guess the song. Sing together a Eucharist song the family knows.
  • Using plain paper place mats have your family sit together at the dinner table and design a place mat for each person. Decorate each place mat with a symbol of the Eucharist.
  • As a family, prepare a meal in which each person helps in the preparation. Talk about what each person contributed. Before eating the meal, say a prayer to thank God for all God’s gifts and to ask God’s blessing on all.
