Lifelong Catechesis
Forming Catholic identity across generationsFor a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.
Charles Lwanga and Companions, Martyrs
Charles Lwanga was the assistant to the master of pages in the court of King Mwanga of Uganda. Joseph Mukasa, a Catholic, was his superior. Mukasa chastised the king for violent and immoral acts. Charles, along with several other pages, refused to submit to the king’s immoral behavior and were murdered for their faith.
What strong faith this young man had! Knowing that it would probably lead to his own martyrdom, he persevered in his request for baptism. Then he stood up to the king, defending himself and others against what he knew to be wrong.
