Christmas

During the Christmas season from December 24th until the Sunday after Epiphany, we reflect upon the mystery of love that is made visible in the birth and early childhood of Christ.

Activity of the Week

The Nativity of the Lord (Christmas)

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • For each person in your family, share the story of their birth or the story of their homecoming. Show photos or other keepsakes you may have. Make connections to the story of Jesus’ birth. Did anything unexpected happen? Who came to visit?
  • About one in four children in the United States lives in poverty. Every day, 2,600 are born into poverty. Consider donating baby items such as formula, diapers, bottles, and blankets to a charitable organization that supports new mothers.
  • Children and families are the fastest growing group in the homeless population, representing 40%. Together as a family, clean out dressers and closets. Donate any gently used clothing or toys that have been outgrown to a homeless shelter for families.
  • Just as the shepherds and the magi showed their love for Jesus when they went to adore him and brought him gifts, invite each person to share how they can show their love for Jesus through their actions during Christmas.
