Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Valentine, Martyr

The Romans did not want Christians in their city, so Christians served God in secret. Valentine loved God and God’s people with his whole heart. He served other Christians by bringing food to those who were hiding from the Roman soldiers. He also cared for those who were sick and brought messages to those in hiding. That is why his name is used for the notes of love given on his feast day, February 14, Valentine’s Day.
