Lifelong CatechesisForming Catholic identity across generations
For a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.
Angela Merici, Religious and Virgin
Angela Merici was orphaned at the age of ten. Raised by an uncle, she eventually entered religious life and lived in prayer and austerity. She founded a school for poor children and eventually founded the Ursuline order, who were sisters that lived in their own homes and gave future wives and mothers a solid Christian education. Even today, the work of the Ursuline nuns stresses religious education for girls, especially the poor.
Angela recognized and met a need in the Church of her time—that of educating young girls in their faith as well as in running a household. What can you do today to help meet the needs of the church for good faith formation in your parish?
