Ordinary Time

For a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.

Saint of the Week

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, Archangels

The name Michael signifies "Who is like to God?" and we honor Saint Michael as one who protects and guards us in the face of difficulties. The name Gabriel means "man of God," or "God has shown himself mighty." He was the angel who appeared to Zachariah to announce the birth of Saint John the Baptizer and to Mary that she would bear a Son, Jesus. Raphael's name means "God heals." Saint Raphael is one of seven Archangels who stand before the throne of the Lord. He often appeared in the costume of a human, providing protection for many.
