Ordinary Time

For a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.

Activity of the Week

Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • Jesus is our living bread. For what do you hunger? How can Jesus fill that hunger?
  • Talk about ways to nourish your family life. What food does your family need for the journey of life? Write down a nutrition plan for your family. A standard nutrition plan may include more fruits and vegetables. This alternative family plan may include more and better communication. Post the results somewhere so that everyone can see them and can follow the plan.
  • Go on a family picnic. Bring food and a Bible for nourishment. Read from the Gospel of John, 6:41-51. Talk about what nourishes your life.
  • Arrange to visit someone in your parish who is homebound and cannot attend the Eucharist. Perhaps an adult in the family can also bring the Eucharist to this person.
