Lent

Forty days before the Triduum, the Lenten season disposes Catechumens and the faithful to celebrate the paschal mystery through prayer and penitential practices.

Activity of the Week

Second Sunday of Lent

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • The story of the transfiguration shows that knowing Jesus can change our lives. Discuss the story, including some behaviors that your family needs to change.
  • We grow in our knowledge of Jesus through prayer. As a family, share some experiences of prayer. Encourage family members to share their favorite forms of prayer. Remember that prayer can take many forms, such as silent meditations, song, journaling, litanies, the Rosary, Mass, spontaneous conversations with Jesus, and so forth. Arrange for your family to come together for prayer. Also encourage family members to spend some time in prayer on their own.
  • Talk about how family members have grown since they were babies. Explain that the more we come to know Jesus, the more we grow and change. Discuss the following question with your family: How does knowing Jesus help us to grow and change for the better?
  • The Season of Lent is a time for honest reflection. What changes could you make to improve your relationship with Jesus?
