Easter

The sound of Alleluias fills the 50 days of Easter Sunday to Pentecost as we give thanks for the gift of our salvation. The Easter Triduum recalls the passion and resurrection of Christ in the sacred journey from Holy Thursday to Easter Vigil. "Dying he destroyed our death. Rising he restored our life."

Activity of the Week

Third Sunday of Easter

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • Talk to your family about the disciples’ journey to Emmaus. Discuss reasons why the disciples did not recognize Jesus even though he was close to them. Apply this reading to your own lives. As a family, discuss ways that you can make an effort to be more aware of Jesus’ presence in your lives.
  • In the Emmaus story, the disciples did not fully recognize Jesus until they shared a meal with him. Why is mealtime an important time for your family? When have you experienced Jesus’ presence at a family meal?
  • Every Sunday we have an opportunity to experience Jesus in the Mass. Make Sunday’s liturgical celebration special by going to Mass as a family and having a special breakfast or lunch after Mass.
  • Discuss with your family how you recognize Jesus in your daily life. Invite each family member to complete the following sentence: I feel closest to Jesus when...
