Ordinary Time

For a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.

Activity of the Week

Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • Together as a family, talk about the crosses you and your family have been asked to carry. (Examples: sickness, financial concerns, issues at school, etc.) On a cross cut from construction paper, write which cross you, as a family will help each other carry this week.
  • Plan a time of family prayer. Each family member should reflect on a time when he or she has known the presence and wisdom of God in his or her life. Gather around a lighted candle and invite each person to share his or her story. After each story everyone prays, Oh God, we give you praise.
  • Together evaluate the relationships of the family members. Do we treat each other as a true brother or sister in Christ? How can we improve our relationships with each other? Have your family give concrete examples of how they can–and will–improve.
  • Discuss with your family what it means to live as a disciple in the world today. What are the risks involved? Remind the family that your love and support of each other should help you follow Christ in difficult times.
