Barnabas, Apostle and Martyr
Barnabas was mentioned in the Acts of Apostles for selling his estate and laying the money from the sale at the feet of the Apostles as an example of Christian calling. He had a strong influence on the other Apostles and was active in the early councils and missionary activity of the Church. Barnabas took in Saint Paul when others were suspicious of his conversion. He traveled with Paul on Paul’s first missionary journey to Mediterranean ports. They gained many converts to Christianity. He was stoned to death at Salamis.
