Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Reading I : 1 Samuel 26:2, 7-9, 12-13, 22-23

Though the Lord delivered you into my grasp, I would not harm you.

Consumed with jealousy, Saul and three thousand men head into the desert searching for David.
When given the opportunity, David does not harm Saul because he is God’s anointed.
The Lord will reward the just and faithful.

Reading II : 1 Corinthians 15:45-49

Just as we have borne the image of the earthly one, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly one.

As humans, we resemble Adam, who was made from the earth. We also inherit Adam's weaknesses.
We are also created in God’s image.
We will share in Jesus' Resurrection.

Gospel : Luke 6:27-38

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Jesus teaches the disciples to love their enemies.
Treat others as you want to be treated.
Be kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
