Ordinary Time

For a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.

Activity of the Week

Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • Watch the news together with your family. Talk about evils in today's world that you want Jesus to heal. Remind family members that Jesus has power over evil.
  • Pour some olive oil, or scented oil in a small bowl. Have family members gather in a circle around the bowl so that they can rub some oil on the hands of the person next to them. As the oil is rubbed on each family member's hand, say: "Whatever is not of Jesus, be healed. May the Spirit of God be with you."
  • As a family make a list of people who need Jesus' help. As a family, pray for these people who are in need through the power of Jesus' name and word. List ways your family can take action and bring the healing power of Jesus to others.
  • Jesus' words have authority and power. Put your Bible in a special place in the home where people can see it and where family members can read it.
