Ordinary Time

For a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.

Activity of the Week

Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Choose one of the following activities to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • It is one thing to admire Jesus, however acting as Jesus did is a greater risk. Discuss these questions as a family: Do I act and Jesus did? Am I willing to face embarrassment to act as Jesus did?
  • Jesus encourages his listeners to follow God’s will, not our own free will. What choices show that you are following your will? What choices show that you are following God’s will? On a sheet of paper, create two columns with the following headings: My Will, God’s Will. Write responses under the appropriate headings. Post the paper in a prominent place in your home.
  • Think about how you live together as a family. Talk about a time when you all put aside individual interests for the sake of the common good of your whole family?
  • Adam and Eve knew that God had asked them not to eat from the tree. But it was not until after they ate that they suddenly realized that they had done something wrong. Invite each family member to share about a time when they had a sudden realization that they had done something wrong and what they did to make amends.
