Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

Jesus told the sea to “quiet” and “be still,” and it was. What storms do you need Jesus to calm for you?
Have a family discussion about major storms that have occurred in the United States, and their locations. Find a time to pray together. Pray for those affected by major storms.
Read today’s Gospel, Mark 4:35-41, with your family. Talk about how you would have felt if you were with Jesus and the disciples during the storm. Make a poster for your refrigerator. On the poster, draw a boat and have each person in the family write his or her name on the boat. At the bottom of the poster, put this caption: “Where two or three are gathered together, there am I in their midst.”
Watch the Weather Channel on TV. Take note of any major storms and their locations. Do some research as a family and decide on a charity to donate to that provides disaster relief to storm victims, such as Catholic Charities or The Red Cross.
