Ordinary Time

For a large part of the liturgical year, we devote ourselves to listening to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects unfolded as we seek God's truth and understanding.

Activity of the Week

Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

  • Read Act of Hope together as a family. Discuss the meaning of each line of the prayer, and define words that need an explanation. If possible, memorize the prayer and repeat it during the week as a family.
  • Discuss ways we die to ourselves. When we let our will die to God’s perfect will, isn’t it always much better than we thought? How do we know God’s will? Do we depend on Scripture, Tradition, and the Sacraments to define our boundaries? How are these more reliable than our feelings?
  • Reenact a Baptism with a doll. Discuss how submersion or sprinkling is symbolic of dying to ourselves and rising to a new life. Describe how water cleanses and refreshes and brings peaceful contentment to our outlook.
